Company History
Community Software Group is part of Community Networks Corporation founded in 1993 and staffed by software developers and former Community Action Agency workers. Our staff members have extensive knowledge of Community Action and other nonprofit agencies and are always considerate, supportive and delighted to assist you. We value our customers and understand the significance of the work done by Community Action Agencies and the importance in serving people. We employ talented software developers who have a proven track record in working successfully with non-technical users to create, modify and customize our software products.
Since 1993 we have been working with LIHEAP (fuel assistance) and energy conservation programs. We believe we have the most comprehensive Energy software available today. In Massachusetts, agencies select their own LIHEAP software and independently 21 of the 22 Massachusetts LIHEAP agencies have chosen to license our software.
In 1994, we held a meeting with multiple customers and discussed, planned, and raised funds for the development of a Central Database product according to our mission. Since 1998 this product has evolved to become our configurable Octopia™ client tracking product. In 1996 Community Networks developed a phone based Interactive Voice Response product for Clients of Fuel Assistance to provide comprehensive access to client application status, payment histories, and heating vendor access to information.
Since 2000, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has contracted with us to develop the CSBG State/Federal Reporting Software (the CSBG E-Government Network). This software has been enhanced each year and enables Community Action Agencies to submit numerous CSBG program/fiscal and energy related reports. Through an iterative reporting and review process between the funding source and sub-grantee, the software can populate the NASCP Microsoft Access database or transmit data for other purposes. The software is also used to receive periodic electronic reports sent via XML. This year the CSBG E-Government Network is being further enhanced to provide benefits enrollment coordination features that can be used state-by-state or nationwide.
